This cache is a tribute to a geocaching friend who has left this world and her friends too soon. Anne Whittemore, also known in the geocaching community as Paynim45, lost her battle quite unexpectedly to the horrible disease of cancer. She had fought and succeeded in her battle with breast cancer, only to have it sneak back in quickly and quietly steal her life. But it can not steal our memories. So this cache is for Paynim45, because she loved old cemeteries. This cache is placed in the Buckfield Cemetery Her favorites were from the 1700's. This looked like a very old cemetery, with some stones from those who lived from the 1700's to the 1800's. I think she would have enjoyed poking around in here. She loved to visit the old cemeteries, and when caching without her, we would take pictures for her. So, Paynim45, this one's for you! Some day I hope to come across a cemetery worthy of you, but for now, you are in my thoughts at any cemetery cache I visit. RIP, Anne Whittemore, you are missed... Your PITH girls are just not the same. Thank you for the memories of prior caching, but especially of Camp Nasty! The cache is in a cemetery, so please obey cemetery rules of no entrance after dark. Cache can be accessed from inside or outside of the cemetery.
FTF goes to Paulie, of VIP Adventurers! He ran home all the way from the Northern Maine Woods to pay tribute to his new friend, Anne!
