Geocache Description:

This nano is placed on the corner of School Lane and the A53.

The school in the street name was a little further down the lane when in 1871 the Anglican Mission Church started to be used as a day school during the week. Within five years there were forty children on the books. In 1905, following the opening of nearby St. Chad's Church, the building was used solely as a school.  In 1930 it was known as Longsdon C of E school with 80 children of all ages attending. At this point it was agreed to become a Junior School, and this took effect in 1939.

In 1954, it became known as St James' Primary School and became controlled by the LEA. This was how it remained until it was closed in 1981. It is now an attractive looking house with many external original features clearly visible.

The co-ords may be a little out at present but GPS was refusing to budge today so an extra clue in the meantime - it's on the opposite corner of the junction to the Wheel Inn.
