For a walk along the Wyre of course! Or to pick up a few geocaches? You wouldn't think of making it a park and grab by finding your way right down to the site on the little road would you?! Just through the gate with the No Parking sign onto the walking path and you're almost there. Much better to make it a nice walk along the river tho', it's much better for you! Just under a mile from the Country Park car park.
The Wyreside Visitor Centre is by the car parks in the nearby Country Park, with leaflets and info on guided walks, health walks and cycle routes. There's also a cafe. Beside the car park is the Stanah slipway and views of the saltmarshes of the Wyre Estuary. Further up the estuary you can see Fleetwood and Knott End and on a clear day in the distance, the Lake District Fells. Across the river you can see the rolling farmland at Preesall and Staynall. In the opposite direction there is this nice walk down river to Skippool Creek. Parking is available there too. There should now be five caches along this up river stretch. See also the Yacht Club and numerous other boats in various states of disrepair seemingly marooned, awaiting the next high tide. Occasional very high tides can reach the path! Congrats to cometbill for FTF And a special mention for neilholden for revisiting and finding after his initial experience! Well done Mr H and HTD too!
