Poyner Cemetery is located outside of Lake Lakengren, and can be found by parking alongside the road in the grass, marked by my waypoint, and walking up a hill through the woods. The hill may be slippery from rainfall. You will find most of the markers around the outer back of a large grassy area surrounded by trees. Many of the markers have been moved and broken, so be careful while geocaching to not disrupt anything. Most of the headstones are dated around the 1840s to 1860s, but as early as 1831, and as late as 1916, with around 60 markers in all. Some of the surnames have up to six family members buried here, and include names like Kincaid, Poyner, Peters, and many more.
As with most cemeteries, visitation is between dawn and dusk.
