ADJONA-el último Mencey de Abona
This is the fifth of a series of caches, which will bring you to some archeologically proven Guanche locations in the 'Menceyato de Abona'. This one brings you exceptionally into a museum.
Each of these caches is dedicated to a cacher (couple), who I know, who still likes interesting locations and walks instead of boxes just thrown beneath the road or path. This one is dedicated to my friends Ute and Manfred ( baer )
THIS CACHE has to do with the mummification of the Guanches. Normally only the Menceys and the noblemen were mummified. Normal Guanches were usually buried without mummification. Mummification was mainly known in Tenerife and a bit in Grana Canaria. This practive served to preserve the rottening of the dead with techniques of imbalming similar to other antique civilisations like Egypt but the process of course was a litle bit simpler. For example the dead were just wrapped in coats of animals.
According to investigations with the Carbon-14 method, the dates of the burial last already from the 3rd century AD until the time, when the Canary Islands were conquered in the 15. century AD.

Eso es el quinto de una serie de caches, que te traiga a algunos lugares de Guanches, arqueológico verificado, en el 'Menceyato de Abona'. Este te traiga por una vez en un muséo.

ESTE CACHE se trata de la momificación de los Guanches. Normalmente solo los Menceys y los nobles fueron momificados. Guanches normales fueron normalmente enterrados sin momificación. Momificación se conocía mayormente en Tenerife y sólo un poco en Gran Canaria. Esta costumbre estaba destinada a preservar el cuerpo del fallecido mediante técnicas de embalsamiento muy similares a las que se realizaban en otras civilizaciones antiguas como el Egipto pero el proceso era un poco más simple. Por ejemplo los muertos fueron sólo enrollados en piel de animales.
Según las investigaciones realizadas mediante el método del Carbono-14, las dataciones para los enterramientos cubren un periodo que va ya desde el siglo III d.C. hasta la época de la conquista de Canarias en el siglo XV d.C.

Dies ist der fünfte einer Serie von Caches, die Dich zu einigen archäologisch verifizierten Lokationen der Guanchen im 'Menceyato de Abona' bringen wird. Dieser bringt Dich ausnahmsweise in ein Museum.

DIESER CACHE hat mit der Mumifizierung der Guanchen tu tun. Nur die Menceys und höhergestellten Adligen wurden mumifiziert. Normale Guanchen wurden normalerweise ohne Mumifizierung begraben. Die Mumifizierung wurde hauptsächlich in Teneriffa und sehr wenig auch in Gran Canaria betrieben. Die Praxis der Mumifizierung diente dazu, die Körper der Toten vor dem Verwesen zu schützen ähnlich wie in anderen antiken Kulturen zum Beispiel Ägypten, aber der Prozess war natürlich ein bißchen einfacher. Die Toten wurden zum Beispiel nur in Tierfelle eingewickelt.
Nach Untersuchungen mit der Karbon-14 Methode wurden solche Beerdigungen schon ab dem 3. Jahrhundert nach Christus bis zum 15. Jahrhundert zur Zeit der Eroberung der Inseln vorgenommen.
Notiz vom 28.11.2016: Du kannst jetzt den Cache jederzeit besuchen. Die Mumie natürlich nur während der Öffnungszeiten des Museums.
