THIS CACHE IS NOT IN ANY MINE SHAFT!
The top of Ecton is riddled with old copper mine shafts, most of which are fenced off and well signed, as they are very deep and dangerous - DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ENTER ANY OF THEM! This cache is near to two old shafts, which set us off singing the Isaac Hayes theme tune...
Please re-hide well to ensure the cache is not visible to muggles. You are looking for a cylindrical screw-top container.
After finding this final cache in our series, you can visit the National Trust White Peak 2 cache further to the North. The path isn't marked on the map but is a permissive one leading past the old mine building and curving downhill to the left. Go past another small stone building (the former powder house for the mine) and through a gate leading into the grounds of a former chapel, now a private residence. Turn right down the track to the road and from here rejoin the Manifold Way and retrace your steps back to the start. (We don't recommend taking the path contouring round the hillside above the wall as it can be very overgrown and muddy).
