Geocache Description:

Spotted this location on one of my bike rides on Branched Oak Road.  Why do they do it is a good question.  One story suggests it is done to honor a favored horse that has been put out to pasture or died and so the boots are retired also and put on a fence post.  Another version suggests that the boots belong to a member of the ranch family or a good ranch hand and their boots are put on the posts.  Another says the boots indicate whether the family is home by the direction the toes are pointing.  Lastly, they may also protect the fence posts.  But really I think it is done just because!
