Shimosuwa Post Town is the post town of Nakasendo Highway of 29th counting from Edo.
And, here is also at the end of the Koshukaido Highway.
The Shimosuwa Post Town at the foot of Wada Pass.
Wada Pass was the most difficult part of Nakasendo Highway.
And flourished very much because it is the town where the Suwa Taisha and hot springs.

下諏訪宿は、69箇所ある中山道の宿場のうち、江戸から29番目の宿場です。
また甲州街道の終点でもあります。
標高が高く難所だった和田峠の麓で、しかも温泉に入れて、諏訪大社の門前町であったので大変栄えました。
