The ancient village of Saragano , (the name, from the root “Sarag”, would recall to a cherry tree), was an installation placed on the border of the Longobard dukedom of Spoleto; the ethimology testifies the agricultural vocation of the territory, absorbed in the green of the vineyards and of the olive trees.
The current population in Saragano is 35 people and the old fort is used as a hotel called La Locanda del Prete where you can have a nice meal after your caching adventures in Umbria.
L’antico borgo di Saragano, il cui nome (dalla radice Sarag) richiamerebbe l’albero del ciliegio, fu con ogni probabilità un insediamento posto sul confine del ducato Longobardo di Spoleto; l’etimologia testimonia la vocazione agricola del territorio ancora immerso nel verde degli uliveti e dei vigneti umbri.
