Suchary to polodowcowe jeziora, stanowiące najliczniejszą grupę zbiorników wodnych na terenie Wigierskiego Parku Narodowego. Nazwa
suchar jest określeniem regionalnym, typowym dla terenu Suwalszczyzny.
Suchar Rzepiskowy - dużo mniejszy od
Suchara Wielkiego (earthcache WPN 14) - jest jeszcze bardziej typowym, niż jego większy brat, przedstawicielem jeziora wytopiskowego powstałego z martwego lodu. Znajduje się w wyraźnej małej muldzie, jaka utworzyła się pomiędzy morenowymi wzgórzami. Temperatura wody w tym jeziorze jest niższa, niż w Sucharze Wielkim. To zasługa cienia okalającego go lasu, powierzchnia jeziora kryje się w ciągu dnia najczęściej w cieniu.
Obydwa suchary przedstawione w earthcacheach Postglacial Adventures I & II cechują się nieprzeciętnymi walorami przyrodniczymi i objęte są ochroną ścisłą.

- Idąc szlakiem i podchodząc do jeziorka, trzeba przekroczyć spływające z morenowych wzgórz strugi. Jakiej barwy - wyraźnie widoczne pomiędzy połaciami mchu torfowca - jest ta woda?
- W jakim miesjcu stoisz, stojąc na koordynatach?
- Zadanie opcjonalne: jeśli dysponujesz elektronicznym termometrem, zmierz temperaturę wody w obydwu sucharach i podaj wyniki pomiaru
- Zadanie opcjonalne: i tu warto zrobić pamiątkowe zdjęcie ;)
Suchar ist ein typischer, in Suwalszczyzna benutzter Name, mit dem postglaziale, kleine Waldseen bezeichnet werden. Innerhalb des Wigierski Nationalparks gibt es 18 dieser Seen.
Suchar Rzepiskowy - deutlich kleiner als sein großer Bruder
Suchar Wielki (earthcache WPN 14) - ist ein weiteres Überbleibsel des Toteises. Er liegt in einer Mulde, die zwischen den jeweiligen Moränenhügeln entstand. Seine Wassertemperatur ist niedriger als die des Suchar Wielki. Dies liegt am dichten Wald, der den See während des Tages überwiegend im Schatten hält.
Beide Waldseen - das Earthcache-Duo Postglacial Adventures I & II - sind so einmalig, dass sie zu Reservaten erklärt und unter Naturschutz gestellt wurden (bitte nur auf Wanderwegen bewegen).

- Auf dem Wanderweg an das Ufer des Sees absteigend siehst du - zwischen dichteren Gruppen des Schwingrasens - kleine Wasserfäden, die von den Hügeln in den See abfließen. Welche Farbe hat ihr Wasser?
- Worauf stehst du auf den Koordinaten dieses Earthcaches?
- Optionale Aufgabe: falls du über einen Thermometer verfügst, messe Wassertemperatur beider Seen und teile mir mit deine Ergebnisse

The so-called suchar is the most common type of lake in the Wigry National Park. The forementioned Polish name originates from the region of Suwalszczyzna.
This particular suchar-type lake is an even more typical example of a kettle (a fluvioglacial landform) than its big brother, the
Suchar Wielki Lake. Its located in a distinct small hollow formed between morraine hills. As the lake is surrounded by a forest and its surface is shaded throughout most of the day, water temperature in this lake is much lower than in the Suchar Wielki Lake.
Both suchar lakes presented in eartcaches Postglacial Adventures I & II are of high natural value and are therefore protected.

- What is the difference in altitude (in meters above sea level) between this lake and the Suchar Wielki Lake?
- As you take the trail and approach the lake, you have to cross some streams flowing down the morraine hill. What is the color of the water? (It’s easily visible between the stretches of bog moss).
- To what location did the coordinates bring you?
