Welcome to one of the least-known pullouts on the Seward Highway - Turnagain WX, located on the north side of Turnagain Pass. This hidden paved lot on the west side of the highway is home to Alaska DOT's Turnagain Pass Weather Station (currently off-line). The station is visible from the highway, but most drivers just zip on past this parking area. The lot isn't plowed out in the wintertime.
Lots of room to exercise dogs and small children, combined with plenty of room for RVs make this a handy stopping place. However - there are no public toilets here - they're located a couple of miles further south.
The camouflage bison is barely fifteen feet off pavement in this lot's NE corner, hanging in a spruce tree 6' above ground level. It's not designed to be hard to find - it's designed to show you a new spot to stop and take in the scenery here in Turnagain Pass. You cannot access the cache from the shoulder of the Seward Highway - you must turn into the lot and access the cache from the parking area.
