About the Leisure Centre;

The Llanelli Leisure Centre, and the swimming pool facilities at the centre, first opened for business in April 1963; and this year, the swimming pool celebrates its fiftieth birthday serving the communities of Llanelli. The swimming pool and Llanelli Swimming Club has consistently provided an array of championship swimmers that have represented the town at both National and International level, and continues to develop talent within the County of Carmarthenshire.

The centre’s current reception area, sports hall, dance studio, squash courts and gymnasium were built, and were opened for business in June 1994. The sports hall in particular has hosted a diverse range of events and activities; Commonwealth boxing events, Wrestling shows, National televised programmes such as ‘Most Haunted’, ‘The Antiques Roadshow’, and live concerts performed by the Welsh National Opera, to name but a few.

The Llanelli Leisure Centre continues to serve all areas of the local community and enjoys approximately 400, 000 visitors each year. The Aqua Sir Gar swimming initiative now manages in excess of ten thousand swimmers throughout the County, and approximately 30% of that total is managed in the Llanelli district.
