Geocache Description:

Traditional labyrinths are always oriented towards the true north so walking through them could have been the geocaching of the ancient world. So here's a fitting tribute to these sacred places.

UPDATE 8/14/14. AFTER THE LAST MUGGLING OF THIS CACHE, I ADDED THE 'REQUIRES TEAMWORK' AS AN ATTRIBUTE. IT IS A STRONG SUGGESTION ONLY THOUGH, AND NOT A REQUIREMENT. THIS IS JUST TO EMPHASIZE THE NEED FOR STEALTH WITH THIS CACHE. YOU MAY THINK THAT NO ONE IS WATCHING BUT THERE ARE MANY EYES AROUND. ALSO, PLEASE PLEASE PUT THE CACHE BACK AS FOUND. PUTTING IT BACK OTHERWISE WILL MAKE IT LOOK OUT OF PLACE AND EASIER FOR MUGGLES TO NOTICE

The labyrinth is an ancient symbol dating back more than 3000 years. It is a universal symbol of pelgrimage and of our journey through life.

Ancient and modern labyrinth are found in many parts of the world, including France, Sweden, England, India, Peru and the American Southwest.

A labyrinth has only one path. Unlike a maze, it has no dead ends.

Walking the labyrinth or tracing the pattern with your finger, provides an opportunity to quiet the mind through reflection and meditation.

You may enter the labyrinth with a question or a special intention in mind. Follow the path of the labyrinth from its entrance to the centre. Walk at a pace that feels comfortable to you. Pass others on the path if you need to and move around walkers coming toward you. Stay in the centre as long as you wish. Follow the path back to the entrance of the labyrinth.

The Toronto Public Labyrinth's pattern is based on the eleven-circuit labyrinth constucted at the Chartress Cathedral in France, completed in the 13th century.

Because many labyrinth are found near water, this labyrinth has been located on the former course of Taddle Creek, a stream that has been buried for more than 150 years. The historic granite blocks set into the paving at the entrance to the labyrinth and the nearby water feature in the park are reminders of this buried creek. The labyrinth is oriented in the direction of true north, as indicated by the directionalline created with the imbedded granite blocks.

The cache is a camod small container. No Minotaurs in this labyrinth but muggles abound. And I mean ABOUND. Use stealth. And please put cache back as it was found. I'll be watching from my perch 21 floors above.

ADDENDUM: Please if you find this, put it back where you took it from. All the other spots are either exposed or looks unnatural. I know it's quite a challenge to put this back when there are plenty of muggles, but that's all part of the fun, right? Putting the cache somewhere besides where it is originally runs the risk of the cache being muggled and/or making it easier than it already is for the next cacher. GOOD HUNTING!
