Geocache Description:

This series of caches will take you on a circular walk around the Bridestones Trail. The area is owned by the National Trust who is a charity that protects special places For Ever, For Everyone.

The Bridestones naturally formed sandstone rock formations that have been eroded over thousands of years and were first created by glacier movement during the Ice Age. The best known rock shape is the 'Pepper Pot' perched precariously on it's narrow stone pedestal and standing some 9 metres high. The name "Bridestones" is probably of Scandinavian origin and may mean 'the edge stones' or 'brink stones'.
