This is another cache placed as part of the national Church Micro series. Less than 20 metres walking in total should be required, although access to the cache would be very tricky for wheelchair users.
The cache itself is a camoflaged lock 'n' lock suitable for trackables and small items.
There is excellent parking for three or four cars opposite the church at TG45996 10886. The cache has not been placed within the churchgrounds, nor is it in the wall - no need for demolition here, the church has needed more than enough restoration already!
The church of St Peter and St Paul is situated about 400m west of the village of Runham and the parking is well placed for those intending to do a circular walk taking in a section of the Broad Walk series along the river Bure, together with some of the other local caches. Much of the church is 14th C and it fell into disuse for a while. A watercolour painted in 1993 by the artist PE Page shows the church in need of substantial repair and restoration. Inside the church there is a pen and ink line drawing of the church as it appeared much earlier in its history. Since 2007 it has been restored and is back into some kind of use and again open to visitors. Apparently Runham Church does not appear in the new edition of Sam Mortlock’s Guide to Norfolk Churches, as this restoration came too late for the church to be included in that edition as the book had already gone to press. There is, however, some excellent additional information relating to the church that may be found using a good internet search engine.
