Geocache Description:

Just a quick little 2 stage multi at Ellis Park and Lloyd Kennedy Arboretum just outside Yellow Springs.

The posted coordinates will take you to a very common spot in this park. It is a sign that will tell you what this tree is and who it was planted in memory of. Your job will be to fill in information from the sign to get the final coordinates. It should not be too difficult.

The final coords are in the following format:
N 39 49. ABC
W 83 53.XYZ

Now for what you need to get the final location:
A = first number in year given
B = number of letters in first word line 1
C = number letters first word of line 2

X = number of letters of second word line 1
Y = last number in year minus 1
Z = number of times the letter V appears

That's it - now go find it and sign your name. The cache is a small with room for a few trade items. Don't forget to bring your own writing utensil.
Now a little about the park - in 2012 The Village of Yellow Springs and the Yellow Springs Tree Committee will celebrated the rededication of Ellis Park as what is now known as the Ellis Park and Lloyd Kennedy Arboretum.

The park on Polecat Road features a two-acre arboretum with about 130 trees that was initiated by the Tree Committee while Kennedy was its president. The renaming of the park honors Kennedy, who has personally had a hand in planting about 2,000 trees around the village.

Kennedy served as tree consultant for the Village for many years while working as a state inspector for retail nurseries. He became an especially active tree planter after his retirement in the 1970s, starting with trees on Mills Lawn grounds, followed by trees on village streets, at Gaunt and Duncan Parks, and many other sites.

The Kennedy arboretum is designed for observing trees of many types to help residents make decisions about home plantings. The park is also a place to relax and enjoy a variety of beautiful trees that constantly change with the seasons.
