Geocache Description:

Levittown Legacy #1: Rancocas Public School

This series of caches is dedicated to the history of Willingboro, and especially, the legacy of the Levittown years.  When Levitt and Sons started buying farmland in 1954 for their future bedroom community, they had their eye on Rancocas Village as well. That is, until they realized that only half of the village was within Willingboro Township. The rest of it was in Westampton Township, with Bridge Street as the dividing line. In 1956, the boundaries of the township were redrawn by an act of the NJ State Legislature to save this historic gem. This act allowed the Township of Westampton to annex the Willingboro portion of Rancocas Village.**   Many people drive right by this little village on Beverly-Rancocas Rd. (called the Rancocas Bypass as it skirts the village) without even knowing about this historic spot.  Behind the softball backstop is Rancocas Public School of 1874.  Make sure to drive through the streets of Rancocas Village and you'll think that you're in another world!  There is a NJ Scratch-off lottery ticket for the FTF!  There is room for swag.

**Information take from the Township of Willingboro official website.

Congratulations to tsemclarney for FTF!
