Geocache Description:

A haven for birdlife, Marlfield Lake must be on anyone's shortlist of most tranquil places in the whole of Ireland. Located a couple of miles outside Clonmel, the lake was made by hundreds of workers with picks and shovels and commenced life as an industrial lake powering the largest mill in the country.

Come to this place around May each year and you will be treated to the sight of new clutches of cygnets being hatched, and witness up close their first trip onto the water. Near where the cache is located, the same cormorant can be seen perched from dawn to dusk every day, taking only the occasional break.

Marlfield Village Committee ensure this magical place is always clean and tidy, and the variety of ducks, geese, waterhens, swans and a host of other birds is unrivalled.

The cache is a rectangular tupperware box.
