Geocache Description:

A green keysafe sized magnetic container hidden close to the East Coast Mainline and on the opposite side of the track to the site of the old Sessay station.

This station seems to have been heavily used during WW2 by the nearby R.A.F. Dalton airfield, which is now an industrial estate, for transportation of munitions. There doesn't seem to be anything left of the old station buildings but it is possible to make out part of the platform from near the gate to the current railway property. Don't go through unless you have £1000 to spare. In 1942 new up and down slow lines were built between Thirsk and Pilmoor and in 1959 a new up slow from Pilmoor to Alne, making it four track throughout from Northallerton. In 1958 Beningbrough, Alne.Raskelf,Pilmoor,Sessay and Otterington lost their passenger services with Tollerton following in 1965. This station must have been unremarkable in it's lifetime as there seems to be very little useful information in the public domain. However it did exist and so we can REALLY SideTrack it.

Congratulations to all three on joint FTF
