Local information suggests that the location of this cache was a lookout post during WWII. It affords a view of both Spiggie and Rerwick beaches and it is said that, had enemy boats landed on either beach, explosives would have been detonated which would have taken out the road at the cliffs thereby forcing any invaders up and over the hill right past the army camp.
This is a traditional cache in a "Lock and Lock" type 1ltr container with various items of swag.
As it is hidden at the side of a single track road, geocachers seeking this cache by car should take care to park appropriately and approach the cache on foot.
