The posted coords will take you to the parking lot at Mill Creek Falls. Here Mill Creek plunges 48 feet, making it the largest waterfall in Cuyahoga County. The waterfall powered the first grist and saw mill in the area, built by William Wheeler Williams in 1799. Cleveland finally outgrew Newburgh in 1830, due to Cleveland's prominence as a port city following the opening of the Ohio & Erie Canal in 1825.
The so-called cataract falls later powered a boiler, providing steam to the first steel mill in the county, the Cleveland Rolling Mill Company, founded by Henry Chisolm in the 1850s.
