The Northeast section of Lake Wappapello is an area full of hidden gems for geocachers. The caches I have placed in this area are all easily accessed from parking or trails. Please use designated parking or turnaround places instead of parking on road. There is minor bushwhacking in this series, but long pants are advised in summer months. No caches are placed in beds of poison ivy, but cachers may brush against some if not careful, and ticks are prevalent. I saw no snakes as I placed this cache, but be aware of possibilities.
There are no “conveniences” (gas, food, restrooms) in this area. Please be prepared. I also had no AT&T signal in much of this area, so phone cachers should save caches for “offline” use.
Do not hunt for these caches when gates are closed. If lake levels are high, some areas may be inaccessible. Most areas are closed between 10 pm and 4 am.
