Umm Al Samim, the mother of poisons is supposedly the last unexplored places in the region. The salt flats of The Empty Quarter have been feared by even the bedu! People have been known to disappear, camels to have dropped in to the quick sands and caravans to have been lost to the salt and sand. Very recently a travel writer had the misfortune of vehicle breakdown and had to walk perilous distances to safety. So be careful. 4WD is a must, lots of water and tell somebody back home where you are heading.
On the otherwise flat featureless landscape we spotted a little hillock. May have been used as a marker back in the day. The cache is a locknlock case with few trade items and log book. Look under the oil drum on top of the hillock for the booty.
