Sliedrecht is een dorp met ruim 24.000 inwoners (1 november 2012, bron: CBS) en ligt aan een van de drukst bevaarde rivieren van Nederland, de Beneden Merwede.
Sliedrecht staat bekend om de vele grote baggerbedrijven (onder andere IHC Merwede) die er vandaan komen.
Iedere twee jaar vindt in Sliedrecht het Baggerfestival plaats. Ook is er het Nationaal Baggermuseum gevestigd. Verder kwam in 1979 de eerste IKEA van Nederland in Sliedrecht.
Deze werd echter in 2006 gesloten wegens het beperkte oppervlak van de vestiging.

Sliedrecht (population: 24.000 in 2012) is a town and municipality in the province of South Holland and located on one of the busiest rivers in The Netherlands, the Beneden Merwede.
Sliedrecht is known for its many large dredging companies (including IHC Merwede).
Sliedrecht is also the site of the Nationaal Baggermuseum (National Dredging Museum) - featuring dredging and salvage.
Every two years there will be the Bagger Festival taken place.
Furthermore, in 1979 the first IKEA store in Netherlands was opened in Sliedrecht, but it closed in 2006 due to the limited area.
