Genaugenommen ist es nicht der einzige Blick auf den Leopoldsberg, man sieht ihn einen Großteil der Strasse entlang. Strictly speaking its not the only view to Leopoldsberg, you can see the mountain on the bigger part of the road. Der Leopoldsberg hieß bis 1693 Kahlenberg. Tatsächlich fand dort die Schlacht zur Befreiung Wiens von den Türken statt (König Jan III Sobieski mit seinem polnischen Entsatzheer). Die Umbenennung in das heutige Leopoldsberg erfolgte nachdem die dortige Kapelle (gestiftet von Kaiser Leopold I) in der Schlacht zerstört und danach wieder aufgebaut wurde. Kapelle zum Hl. Leopold -> Leopoldsberg. Übrigens der heutige Kahlenberg hieß früher Sauberg. The Leopoldsberg was called Kahlenberg until 1693. The Polish king Jan III Sobieksi has rescued Vienna from the Turkish occupation in 1683 at the "Battle at Kahlenberg" on Sept, 12th, 1683. A small chapel there (founded by emperor Leopold) was destroyed during the battle and re-erected later. The chapel is devoted to the Holy Leopold so the name of the mountain Kahlenberg has been changed to Leopoldsberg. By the way, todays Kahlenberg was called Sauberg (sow mountain named after wild sows which have been hunted there) in earlier times.
