"Habitat" is an installation of seven steel eelgrass sculptures along a public plaza at the Buzzards Bay Center in downtown New Bedford. Rising 12 feet tall, the sculptures of "Habitat" create the illusion of a gracefully swaying meadow – just like the lush eelgrass meadows that thrive in clean water. "Habitat" reminds all visitors to New Bedford’s waterfront about the beautiful, yet vulnerable underwater world beyond our doorstep.
The cache is a small blue box. Sign the log book, take a sticker, and enjoy the sculptures. If anything is missing from the cache, step inside the Richard C. Wheeler Bay Learning Center (open Monday-Friday from 9-5) and let us know.
