Geocache Description:

BBQ/Picnic at Heart Desire Beach at 1:00 on Saturday, September 14. Bring your own meal or plan a spread with some geo-friends. Come early and paddle Tamales Bay if you so "desire".

Heart's Desire Beach is a remote, picturesque location with beautiful views and wild life. It is tucked away in Inverness, CA along the Tamales Bay. Bring a picnic lunch or fire up a BBQ with fellow geocaching enthusiasts.

For those who like to swim, this beach also has a designated swimming area. Bring your bathing suit!

Tamales Bay is delightful tidal bay to kayak with Osprey, Jelly Fish, Sting Ray and much much more. There are rental companies nearby that can set you up with a rental if you do not have your own kayak. (I recommend you make arrangements in advance.) There are also Oyster companies lining the bay that you can buy oysters from before hand and BBQ them at the event.

Zop and I will be there from 10:00 am (or earlier). You are welcome to arrive when you like. The BBQ will be ready for oysters around 1 pm so bring 'em if you got 'em. You will be in charge of cooking your own food. We are simply providing the BBQ. We will also provide homemade Hogwash Mignonette (a classic and refreshing topping for raw oysters), Tabasco and Tiger Sauce.

This is not just for Geo-Kayakers. This is for anyone who enjoys a beach BBQ/Picnic. The kayaking is a bonus for those who want to take advantage of the location and date for a water adventure. Quite a few geocaches are accessible by land or if you prefer by water. Come and turn a 2.5 terrain cache into a 5 terrain cache by approaching GZ by water craft.

Tamales Bay State Park Information

There are several places to buy oysters grown in Tamales Bay as well as a few Kayak rental companies with guided tours. Please email me for contact information if you are interested in patronizing any of these local establishments.

Parking is limited. There is an $8.00 parking fee per vehicle. They only accept credit card or debit card-no cash. Carpooling is encouraged.

There is limited cell phone coverage. Those who geocache with a smart phone ought to save the geocaches in the region to their device rather than rely on service.
