Old Country Store Traditional Cache

My husband and I moved away from Lamar County, Alabama many years ago, but we always love to come home for a visit.  We noticed that there are few caches here, so we thought we would help others discover some of the locations that are special to us. Our families have graciously offered to maintain the caches in our absence.

Old country stores are fast becoming a thing of the past.  This is one I fondly remember from my childhood.  I remember stopping by Mixon's Store on the way home from school with my parents for gasoline and essentials.  It was a great place to get a "Coke" in a glass bottle and some peanuts to put in it.  The owner's even kept blocks of bologna and cheese that they would slice on the spot and wrap up in butcher paper for the ride home.

The building has housed several businesses over the years and is now home to a unique antique shop.  Give it a look-see!
