This cache is in Maplewood Cemetery, which is open only dawn to dusk, May 1 to November 2. Please do not try to enter the cemetery at any other times. The cache will be disabled during the months that the cemetery is closed. BYOP! Logs that indicate that you did not sign the physical logbook will be deleted. The container has changed and there is room for only tiny trade items inside.
We borrowed this idea from a cache in Congressional Cemetery, a large historic cemetery in Washington, D.C. that contains the graves of many famous Americans, including John Philip Sousa and J. Edgar Hoover. Congressional Cemetery is a lively neighborhood gathering place, allowing dogs whose owners have paid a membership fee to walk and play within its large fenced area. There are festivals, walking tours, and a Dead Man's Run. The website (congressionalcemetery.org) has a sense of humor too. In the FAQ section it says, "Q. Do you have to be a Member of Congress to be buried there? A. No. You just have to be dead."
Thanks to the trustees of Maplewood Cemetery for granting permission for this cache to be placed. Please note that dogs are not allowed in this part of the cemetery. We hope you enjoy visiting this beautiful place.
We are proud to add that this cache won the "most devious hide" award for 2013 from the Vermont geocachers community. Don't let that intimidate you--it's not a difficult hide, just a little different.
