Bring your boat, friends, family, and picnic lunch.
After paddling, or hiking feel free to picnic at your own pace. Share boating/caching stories, exchange trackables and enjoy the park. There are also restaurants nearby at 116th and Olio, or you can go and hit some caches in the area.
The starting point is at Geist Park, which is located at the far Northeast end of Geist Reservoir where Fall Creek flows into the reservoir. There is parking available, real restrooms, a picnic shelter and plenty of space to throw down a picnic blanket.
There is also a playground and most importantly, two launching points from the shore.
Bring your paddle boat (canoe or kayak).
From here we will paddle out into the reservoir.
Paddlers will meet at the park ready to paddle at 7:30am.
We will go over some tips on paddling on Geist, then break up into groups of like minded paddlers and set off.
Geist is a wake zone east of Olio Rd, very calm flatwater paddling. West of Olio Rd can get a bit choppy with wind and boat traffic.
Be prepared to see Blue Heron, Snowy Egrets, Eagles, turtles, Orioles, Kingfishers, Turkey Vultures, and Swans.
Please bring your PFDs, water, sunscreen and GPSr.
Picnic whenever you are done.
If you don't have a kayak or canoe, you may be able to rent one at Rusted Moon Outfitters in Broad Ripple, or at the Geist Marina.

Rusted Moon allows you to haul the rental elsewhere, $40 per day (

White River Canoe Company in Noblesville also has rentals, don't know if they only run a livery or if you can haul the boat elsewhere. (
