This cache is a pirate adventure which will test your knowledge of map reading, your courage and your stamina.
Let’s play a little pirate game;
This cache is located on the north side of Korčula Island. There is a beach called tri žala, what means three beaches (basically is just one long beach divided by a few large rocks.). Beside those three beaches is a private one belonging to the camp, but there are no restrictions to get to the beach, and it’s more accessible than the other three. All four beaches overlook Pelješac peninsula and are guarded by small Island called Mulič.
Oh one more thing the treasure was hiddeen so well that pirates used two maps to get there, so it might not be so easy to find it ;)
Parking is few meters either way.
This beach has a large history connected to the quarry above it. More than 50 years ago there was a landing dock, for ships, which picked up the stone mined in the quarry above (the quarry is not visible any more). This beach was artificial made by locals, after closing of the quarry, and you can still see big stones leading from the beach to the sea which once was part of the big dock for the ships. What is left from the dock is now used as a platform for the shower on this private beach.
There is one more interesting thing, you will discover, in the water if you decide to go swimming from here. Korčula is the only island in Croatia with its own water supply. One of the sweet water springs is just below the beach and you can feel. Right at the big rumble of stones where the shower is set you can feel cold flows of water under you. This is where underground spring comes to the sea and mix with salt water.
And that’s not all, there is some tree by the shower which has nice purple blossoms on it and there are hundreds of bumblebees and bees feasting on them. Even hornets with interesting colour – they are purple. Interesting enough is that the bumblebees never leave this tree but at night.
So this is right on treasure hunt;
- at the location of the coordinates you’ll find a treasure map (please leave it where you found it at the end)
- Don’t be alarmed that when you reach the goal of the map, you would not find what you are expecting to find (to get to the treasure, you’ll have to get wet, but don’t worry, the treasure is not under water). So don’t forget your SWIM SUITS or even a boat can be useful.
- At the end of the “map” there are some flying “guardians” THE GUARDIANS will test your bravery and if you are brave enough you’ll found the final clue to the end.
