We recommend that you bring along a pair of tweezers. All caches are discos, so we would kindly ask that you please, please replace them exactly how you found them. The route takes in other caches which you might also like to find.
Parking is available at N54 54.031 W1 46.376.
There are 7 caches in total.
The circular route follows public footpaths, so we would kindly ask that you respect the countryside code and be guided by the paths.
The route is great for dogs (though take care crossing the road at the car park). All stiles etc. are dog friendly. Due the terrain, the walk is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs.
Directions:-
Cross the road from the car park, cross the small wooden bridge and head uphill. Veer right to head towards the river and waterfall. At the bottom of the steep bank cross the river and walk up the footpath on the other side. Please take care - these paths are currently being repaired following the floods earlier in the year, but are still in use. At the road, turn left. The road then forks - take the left route (the right would take you up to a private manor house). The road then forks again - again, take the left route through the gate and into the wood.
After the CIC information board, take the first footpath on the left. Follow the trail through the woods, over a wooden gate and into a grassy field - the public footpath runs along the bottom of this field. At the next gate, take the path right (a small detour to find 'X Marks the Spot') then retrace your steps to the gate. At this point go straight ahead (ignoring the path to the left).
Follow the path back to the waterfall (you can take a small detour to the left to have a closer look at the waterfall - a great place to stop and have a well earned cup of tea). When back at the spot where you originally crossed the river retrace your steps back up the bank, but take the right fork in the footpath towards the top. Follow the path up to the gate and into a lovely wild flower meadow. The public footpath goes around the outside of this field. Use this to retrace your steps back to 'Riveting', through the stile and back down the hill to the car park. Once there, follow the path into the woods at the other side.
Follow the path uphill and up onto the bridge - watch out for cyclists!!! There are incredible views from here.
