Remembering Sibley - The Good Old Days #2 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Magsmark: The Beacon was perfect for a small container, but alas the cache turned up missing due to what I will describe as over zealous pruning of the pine tree.

Geocache Description:

The first cache I placed here was in a pine tree a few yards from this one. It blew down on the first day of summer 2013. I lost my two favorite caches that day. So it goes.

I grew up across the street from Sibley Park and spent almost as much time here as I did at home. I played baseball, football, soccer, basketball, archery, floor hockey, learned chess, crafts, starred in plays, went to my first dance with a live Rock and Roll band in 7th grade, and the list goes on.

But my favorite memories are from Christmas Vacation. The park has 4 baseball fields and back then they flooded all 4 fields and made a gigantic skating rink. There was also a hockey rink, and a practice hockey rink without boards. During that holiday week my buddies and I would get up at 7:00, eat breakfast, grab our skates and sticks, and go play hockey. We'd play 'til noon, go home for lunch, come back and play 'til supper time, go home and eat, and come back and play 'til they turned the lights off at 9:00. There were also a lot of kids who just skated, and sometimes we would take a break from hockey and go play pom pom polaway with the whole gang of boys and girls.

Those were the days.
