Geocache Description:

Exercise is Good for the Brain... and the body!  Here's a cache to challenge your brain after you use the nearby trails and ball fields to exercise!  Bring a friend, there's much to do and a view to enjoy as well!

The Organ Trail!

The Organ Trail is a series of caches with special dedication to combining my fondness of geocaching and medicine.  As a surgical resident I spend much time living at the hospital but when not there geocaching has become a favorite!  Its always been a good way to get out of the house and have some healthy fun.  To take healthy to the next level I wanted to make a series of caches which drew attention to different aspects of medicine and healthcare, hence The Organ Trail was born!

Exercise is Good for the Brain

This is the 12th in the series of The Organ Trail! The brain is quite the enigma, and we strive to learn more about it.  You, I'm sure, have all heard how important exercise is for the body in staying healthy but we often forget the other effects.  There is numerous research that shows that the brain has changes during excercise, positive changes that is!  Small amounts of daily aerobic exercise are show to improve memory and cognition, which can have major effects on staving off neurologic diseases such as alzheimer's.  Even better than that, it improves memory as there is research to be shown to improve the number of neurons in the memory centers!  Interestingly, aerobic exercise has been shown to be superior to strength training.

Now here's something important.  Exercise is good but you need to be sure to stay hydrated as well!  Inadequate fluid intake, especially when you are working out on a hot day, can lead to dehydration.  Some signs are nausea, muscle cramps, dizziness and may even lead to sweating that stops.  And the worst... it could lead to cognitive problems when severe!  So keep some water on you while excercising!  You should drink at least 8-10 fl oz every 10-15 min during exercise and if you are doing long exercise such as a marathon, be sure you have an electrolyte replacement as well!

So with all this in mind, I have placed a cache at a place to play ball or walk around trails with great views.

You are looking for a cache that will require some thinking, although maybe not for some.  As an added bonus, it also has a nice view while you ponder!  I suggest bringing a friend for ideas, to help, or at least to share the view as well.  You will not need any mechanical tools for the cache but if you plan to play ball on the field or walk around the trails on a hot day, heed the advice above! The cache is outside the ball field (despite what google maps shows!) Please do not remove the cache from the securing material as this isnt necessary!

Remember - your find doesnt count unless you sign the log! I'm gonna check! The point of this cache is actually getting to the log to sign, that will take your brain! Update!! The original cache was replaced twice and keeps getting muggled! New one unfortunately has nothing to do with water :( .... Instead i have upped the game and made it harder! It's in the same area but new coordinates. Super high muggle risk so you might need to grab and tinker on a walk!
