Minenomatsume

Yatsugatake is one of celebrated mountains in Japan. It located in Nagano prefecture mainly. It is also one of the 100 famous mountains in Japan selected by Fukada Kyuya. The ridgeline is approximately 30km from north to south. Actually, there are some peaks along it. It is the place that is full of nature through the four seasons. There are several views on the origin of the name. For example, there are many peaks resulting in the "八" which means "many" in Japanese. Another says there are obvious eight (八) peaks.

Fukada Kyuya who selected the 100 famous mountains in Japan described the Yatsugatake which has eight peaks such as Nishidake, Amigasadake, Gongendake, Akadake, Amidadake, Yokodake, Ioudake and Minenomatsume. If you are familiar to Japanese mountain name, you will feel something strange on the name of Minenomatsume. There is a tacitly rule on the mountain name.
