Geocache Description:

This is one of our favorite natural spots, we enjoy walking 'geodog' through here as we walk around Corston village. Lots of wildlife, flora & fauna can be seen all year round.

Please respect this area and act responsibly, as this is a natural beauty spot.

The Quarry and Pond is a local nature reserve and is owned by Malmesbury Parish Council.

The limestone quarry first appeared on old maps after 1900. The more crumbly upper layers of stone would have been crushed and used to surface gateways and cow yards. The more compacted lower layers were used to build the stone walls that are so characteristic of the Wiltshire Cotswolds.

When quarrying ceased in the 1950s the deepest part was filled with clean groundwater to become a pond

You will require tweezers to access the log in this cache.
