Geocache Description:

MacPacMum didn't think she had a snowballs chance of completing 367 days of caching in a row 12 months ago. Without her friends and family she wouldn't of but now she can see the end in sight, so an event celebration is called for! Not sure if we have a snowball's chance of having snow in September but can have a fun day anyway!

Surrounded by the Torlesse Mountain Range to the east and the Craigieburn Range to the west, the limestone tors of Kura Tawhiti Conservation Area dominate the Waimakariri Basin.

Castle Hill Conservation Area / Kura Tawhiti
Sunday 8th September
From 11.30am

THIS EVENT WILL BE ON WET OR FINE. Weather forecast for the area today is a couple of light showers in the morning but fine in the afternoon. However they are predicting a high of 9oC so layering for any weather would be a good idea.

A special cache has been put in place and details available at the event
Approx one hour from Christchurch - 90km
Approx 90 mins from Ashburton - 130km
Approx 1.45 hrs from Greymouth - 150km


Toilet in carpark - come equipped for snow and hopefully the weather will oblige. Co-ordinates are for the carpark of the Kura Tawhiti Conservation Area and the amazing rock formations and a suitable slope for tobogganing - snowman building - exploring are a short walk away.
Bring own food, drink, change of clothes etc - no shops in the area.
