Tuscany has been known for centuries for great wine and olive oil, but it also used to have wonderful springs of fresh water as well as thermal waters. But if you've ever strolled through the forest here, you probably have never come across a stream, or a pond, or even a tiny rivulet. So, where has all the water gone? This cache will help you figure it out.
The cache itinerary is best done on foot or mountain bike. If coming on foot, you can park near the Hotel Torre ai Mari (coordinates given above). Look for a forest path with a barrier in front of it. You can walk or ride around the barrier, then walk about 50 m until the path joins the gravel road, Via dei Cappuccini. Head right (uphill). All waypoints are fairly close to the gravel road. (Warning: if done on foot, the whole itinerary may take as long as two hours.)
(Alternatively, you can drive. Even without 4WD, Via dei Cappuccini is mostly accessible by car. In this case you must pick up the gravel road just after driving through Sarteano town. Look for yellow signs that say "Località i Cappuccini".)
