La Base Tuono è stata una base missilistica della NATO, situata a poca distanza da passo Coe, al limitare tra Trentino e Veneto. Ospitava 12 missili antiaerei a testata convenzionale, potenzialmente in grado di portare anche armi nucleari, fortunatamente mai dispiegate in zona.
In seguito allo smantellamento della base, avvenuto alla fine degli anni '70, si è deciso di mantenere una parte delle installazioni quale museo, che mostra gli armamenti e le attrezzature originali dell'epoca, ben descritti e mantenuti.
Fa riflettere il contrasto tra la tranquillità odierna del luogo, immerso tra prati, alberi e malghe, e la drammatica realtà della guerra fredda, ricordata da questa base.
La cache si trova nel bosco sopra la base, a circa duecento metri dal museo.

The "Base Tuono" was a NATO missile base located not far from Passo Coe, between the Italian regions of Trentino and Veneto. It hosted 12 anti-aircraft missiles armed with conventional warheads, but capable of carrying also nuclear weapons, luckily never deployed here.
After the dismantling of the base, towards the end of the seventies, a part of the facilities was kept and restored, to be used as a museum that shows weapons and equipment of the Cold War era, well described and mantained.
The strong contrast between the idyllic place of today, located among lawns, trees and pastures, and the dramatic reality of the Cold War, shown from this base, can be sobering.
The cache is in the wood over the base, about two hundred meters from the museum.
