Geocache Description:

permit # MK13

Trying to start a tradition for part of Mine Kill State Park's Summer Festival.  This cache will be out there until next year when it will be archived and Summer Festival 2014 cache will be placed. This is a good size container that the Mine Kill park ranger lent for the cache.

Mine Kill State Park’s Summer Festival is going into its 3rd season with the event scheduled for July 20, 2013. The perennial event is held at the famous Mine Kill Pool Complex and showcases a variety of regional organizations and presenters ranging from the 4-H Club to the NY Wildlife Rescue Center, among many others. Fun activities for the kids and family like the Bounce House, homemade “Flusher”, pie throwing and arts & crafts are hits every year at Summer Fest. Also, everyone has a chance to learn something new about the environment at the Mine Kill Summer Nature Tent also featured at the festival. In 2013, participants will get a chance to learn how to Save the Frogs with Mine Kill park staff, or check out some of New York’s largest animals with the NYS DEC Big Game presentation. Interested treasure hunters can quiz expert Greg about the awesome new sport of geocaching, and how geocaching has become one of the most popular outdoor activities at the parks. Sponsors like Stewart’s Shops have generously supported Summer Festival by supplying attendees with free ice cream sundaes. With activities, presenters and participants growing each and every year, the Mine Kill Summer Festival will continue indefinitely and is an outstanding chance to explore and support your local park.

And the FTF goes to a&wcachers!
