The "Restin'" caches are a series that will take you to local cemeteries, places of historical interest. From pioneers and modern day people these places are packed full of interesting information. The cache is easy to find, just respect where you are.
This property has been used as a burying ground since 1827. In 1844, a number of area residents petitioned the Governor General of British North America to deed one acre for permanent use as a cemetery. Among the first buried here were early settlers, and loggers - many of whom lost their lives on the nearby "flat rapid" section of the Madawaska River. In 1931, the cemetery was surveyed, plots were numbered and a board of trustees was established.
