Leeroy71: I'm archiving all of my caches due to a change in circumstances, on-going problems with pain/ injury and following feedback from a fellow cacher.

Thanks to all of you who visited and enjoyed my caches and to those who didn't enjoy them, sorry but I tried my best. It's time to let somebody else have a go.

When able in the future, I still hope to get out and about finding the odd cache.

Geocache Description:



A traditonal cache located along The Devil's Highway.

The cache is situated along Roman Ride in Finchampstead. Roman Ride forms part of The Devil's Highway and The Devil's Highway is a Roman road that went from London to Silchester. There are still many traces of the ancient Roman Route that are still in use today as roads/ byways/ Footpath etc, you can simply follow the straight lines on your OS map to see the full extent of the highway. The Devil's Highway was very much the M4 of it's day and was one of the most important roads in Roman Britain. The Romans would number their roads depending on there importance (with 1 being the most important) and out of approximately 200 main Roman roads, The Devil's Highway was numbered as 4, with shows it's importance. You can transport yourself back in time to the middle of the first century A.D. and imagine what the spectacle would have looked like as Queen Boudica (Iceni Tribe) marched her army along The Devil's Highway as she led an uprising against the Romans.
