Brama Portowa to jeden z symboli Szczecina. Została zbudowana w stylu barokowym w latach 1724 – 1725. Autorem projektu był Holender Gerhard Cornelius van Wallrawe, natomiast ozdoby na jej zewnętrznej ścianie są dziełem francuskiego rzeźbiarza Bartholome Damarta. Znajduje się tu tarcza z mongramem fundatora budynku – króla Fryderyka Wilhelma I, który wykupił Szczecin od Szwedów za 2 miliony talarów, dzięki czemu miasto zaczęło należeć do państwa brandenburskiego, o czym informuje złocona łacińska inskrypcja. Szczyt fasady bramy zdobi herb Prus, nad którym widnieje korona.
Brama Portowa i znajdująca się nieopodal Brama Królewska, to jedyne zachowane elementy dawnych fortyfikacji pruskich. Budowla przetrwała II wojnę światową dzięki temu, że jej zdobione szczyty zostały na ten czas usunięte i schowane w Lesie Arkońskim, a samą bramę ukryto pod połaciami bluszczu.
Z racji dużego ruchu jaki panuje w tym miejscu za dnia, zalecam szukanie wieczorem aby nie spalić miejscówki.

Harbour Gate is one of the symbols of Szczecin. It was built in the Baroque style in the years 1724-1725. It was designed by Dutchman Cornelius Gerhard van Wallrawe, and the decorations on the exterior wall are made by French sculptor Bartholome Damart. There is a shield with mongram of building founder - King Frederick William I, who bought Szczecin from the Swedes for 2 million thalers, so that the city began to belong to the state of Brandenburg, which indicates gilded Latin inscription. Peak of the gate facade is decorated by the Prussia arms, with the crown.
Harbour Gate and nearby Royal Gate is the only surviving elements of the old Prussian fortress. The construction has survived World War II because all decorated peaks was removed and hidden in the Arkona Forest, and the same gate hidden under thick ivy.
Because of heavy traffic in this place, I recommend to search the cache by the evening.
