DID YOU KNOW???

  1. General Eisenhower became popular and well-respected after spearheading the massive allied invasion of Europe on D-Day (June 6, 1944) that decisively turned the tide of WWII. He later accepted the Republican nomination and was elected President of the United States in 1952.
  2. Dwight D. Eisenhower was the 34th president of the United States who spent much of his time on Neilson Ranch in Fraser, noting that he was most relaxed while fly-fishing the Fraser River or St. Louis Creek. This part of Grand County soon became famously known as the “Western Whitehouse”.
  3. During one notable trip to the Fraser Valley in 1954 President Eisenhower signed a bill that established the United States Air Force Academy.
