St Margaret's Church, Catmore is a small downland church dating from the 12th century. Original Norman work includes the font as well as the north and south doorways. The nave was re-roofed in 1607 and the rest of the church was heavily restored around 1850.
The church is a grade 1 listed building and is in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust having been declared redundant in 1973.
The church can be accessed via a path that starts at the side of the road at N51 31.143 W001 20.890 and winds its way round the buildings and through a field. Just follow the white arrows.
The published coordinates take you to the church door. Inside the church you need to find the plaque on the wall to the left of the altar. Mary the wife of George died December ABth. 1CDD. Aged EF years old.
