Colom is a coastal village belonging to the municipality of Felanitx. It is located southeast of the island of Mallorca. Colom, known for felanitxers as "one port" is the favorite place of summer much of the municipality.
In recent times increased the population resides throughout the year. This has led to the creation of different types of services to cater the needs of the population. During the twentieth century was a fishing port, is a building that symbolizes the box, but in recent decades tourism (mostly in the sun) has become the main economic activity.
This coastal area Colom is one of the few natural harbors on the island. Portocolom és un nucli costaner que pertany al municipi de Felanitx. Es troba ubicat al sud-est de l'Illa de Mallorca. Portocolom, conegut pels felanitxers com a "es Port", és el lloc preferit d'estiueig de gran part de la població del municipi. En els darrers temps s'ha incrementat la població que hi resideix durant tot l'any. Aquest fet ha motivat la creació de distints tipus de serveis per poder abastir les necessitats de la població.
Durant el segle XX fou un port de pesca, un edifici que ho simbolitza és la llotja, però en les darreres dècades el turisme (majoritàriament de sol i platja) ha esdevingut la principal activitat econòmica. Aquesta zona costanera, Portocolom, és un dels pocs ports naturals de l'illa de Mallorca.
Aquesta característica permet que molts vaixells cerquin refugi en aquest indret al llarg de la temporada estiuenca, trencant l'encant de la petita badia d'aquest històric port de mariners que al llarg de molts anys enrere han emprat embarcacions com el típic llaüt mariner elaborat pels mestres d'aixa. Destaca l'estampa típica del seu far vigilant la badia d'aquest port recolzada per l'atenta mirada del Puig de Sant Salvador i de l'històric castell de Santueri.
La seva parròquia, construïda a finals del segle XIX en estil neogòtic i situada a la plaça de Sant Jaume, està dedicada a la Mare de Déu del Carme.
Els atractius turístic més importants de Portocolom són: Les platges: Cala Marçal, s'Arenal, s'Algar i es Babo (en ordre de més visitades a menys). El passeig a primera línia de mar, farcit de nombrosos establiments de restauració. Les belles coves que s'han format en les roques. El poblat dels Closos de Can Gaià, de l'Edat del Bronze.
