Shell We Find A Cache?
This is a letterbox hybrid geocache hidden on Muriwai Beach to the north west of Auckland. A letterbox hybrid geocache is a special kind of geocache because it contains a stamp and logbook for use by letterboxers as part of a game called letterboxing, that preceded geocaching.
For Geocachers...
There is a logbook and pencil provided in the cache that you can use to log your visit. Please only write in this logbook, and not the one that is clearly marked for letterboxing. Please do not remove the stamp or inkpad - they are not for swapping!
For Letterboxers...
There is a stamp, inkpad and logbook for letterboxing included in the geocache. Please stamp this logbook with your stamp, and do not stamp in the logbook clearly marked for geocaching. Please do not remove the stamp or inkpad.
For Everyone...
You will likely require a 4WD vehicle, ATV or motorbike to access this letterbox hybrid geocache. If so, then please be very careful driving/riding on the beach and observe the rules of the sand:
- Be courteous to all other beach users and slow down when passing pedestrians and horses.
- The speed limit on the beach is 60kph.
- Be careful in the soft sand as turning sharply at speed could result in your vehicle flipping.
- Let someone know where you are going and when you expect to be back, as there is no cell coverage for most of the length of the beach.
- Do NOT drive or ride into the dunes as they are protected and this type of behaviour will ultimately result in all vehicles being barred from using the beach!
- Stay safe out there and happy caching/letterboxing!
