Geocache Description:

This cache is hidden in the Lac Lawrann Conservancy. Make sure as you venture to find this cache you keep an eye out for all types of wildlife as it is a very beautiful area. Please park at the parking coordinates provided as this is a preferred location for access to the cache. Please stay on the trails at all times until you are near ground zero as this is a requirement for permisssion to hide this cache. You are looking for a small camo tube container. Please re-hide as it was found.

Please observe the conservatory hours that are dawn to dusk. My daughter likes monkeys so you can only guess what is up for this one. This is one that will take some effort so please be aware of your limitations when going after this one. Some information about the Lac Lawrann Tension Zone. Lac Lawrann Conservancy lies within a band approximately 10 to 30 miles in width, known as the tension zone. The tension zone, which runs across the State of Wisconsin in a generally southeast to northwest direction (from Milwaukee northward to Appleton and then northwestward to St. Croix Falls), was delineated from a composite map showing the range limits of 182 native plant species, and is the zone of greatest concentration of their range limits. The area north of the tension zone is called the northern hardwoods province and consists of plants with a northern affinity. The area south of the tension zone, the prairie-forest province, consists of prairie elements of western and southwestern affinities. Within the tension zone a mixture of the northern and southern plant community elements is commonly found. A good example of this is found within Lac Lawrann Conservancy. The lowland within the Conservancy (wet to wet mesic hardwood forest) is referred to as a transitional swamp forest as elements of both the northern swamp forest and the southern swamp forest are present. The Conservancy’s lowland forest contains a richer flora and more northern plant species. Generally, the distribution of northern and southern plant elements within the tension zone is greatly affected by localized soil types, drainage, and microclimatic conditions.
