Altea has a lot of beautiful ermites: small chapels located in and around the town. Each year in march they celebrate "La Ruta de les ermites". Each chapel is visited and concerts are given. View the Promo video Ruta de les Ermites 2013
La ermita de Santa Bàrbara
This chapel is dedicated to Santa Bàrbara. Maybe you have seen this chapel before, because it it visible from the AP7 highway, near the exit to Altea.
The chapel dates fron the 18th century and is located in an forest-like area near the Finca de Santa Barbara. Pink signs in Altea la Vella guide the way. Itl is worth a visit during the "Ruta de les ermites", but also early decembre, when the yearly fiesta is celebrated, and on all other days to find the cache and make a nice walk in this peacefull countryside.
