St Mary's Church, Chilton Foliat is a grade 2 listed building dating from the 12th century. The church is built of flint, ashlar and rubble and is partly rendered. It consists of a chancel, north vestry, nave, south aisle and a west tower.
The nave was probably built in the 12th century and the aisle added in the 13th century and an early 14th century window survives in the north wall of the nave. The tower was probably added in the 15th century.
Parking is on the street in front of the church.
The published coordinates take you to the Lych Gate. What year was it erected. Call it 19AB.
Now make you way up the path to the railings (N51 25.975 W001 32.548). The railings are dedicated in memory of Ian Frederick who was born on October CD, 1893.
You now need to find the Pease family mausoleum (N51 25.992 W001 32.533). What was Christopher's age when he died in 1866? This is EF.
